The CNR–ISMAR Trieste site is an operational unit of the Institute of Marine Sciences of the National Research Council of Italy, with long-standing experience in marine and oceanographic research at national and international level. The site carries out multidisciplinary research activities focused on physical, chemical and biological oceanography, marine ecosystems, and air–sea interactions, with particular attention to coastal and open-sea environments. CNR–ISMAR Trieste hosts and operates advanced marine observing systems and facilities, supporting ship-based measurements, in situ observations, data acquisition, quality control and dissemination. Through its scientific and technical expertise, CNR–ISMAR Trieste contributes to European and international research infrastructures and initiatives, including ship-based research frameworks such as EUROFLEETS, providing services and support to the marine science community and fostering harmonised and interoperable marine observations.
