AGB_trento_ALOS_S2 is an aboveground biomass (AGB) map (spatial resolution 14 m) produced for a site in the European Alpine Space (Trento), in a mountain range located in the Trentino-Alto-Adige region in Northern Italy.
The map was produced through ipmplementation of regression models integrating field and remote sensing data satellite data. Field data included 34 field AGB plots. Satellite data included ALOS (September 18th 2018), and Copernicus Sentinel-1 (September 4th 2018) and Sentinel-2 (June-October 2015-2018) data.
The map was produced and first published in the journal article "Estimated Biomass Loss Caused by the Vaia Windthrow in Northern Italy: Evaluation of Active and Passive Remote Sensing Options" (https://doi.org/10.3390/rs13234924) by Vaglio Laurin et al., (2021), in the context of a study aimed at estimating the amount of AGB prior to the occurrence of the Vaia storm, which hit Northern Italy in the fall of 2018, and comparing these with estimates coming from other pre-existing products. For further information the reader is advised to the original publication. Data harmonsation process - Gaia Vaglio Laurin - Supported by D4Science infrastructure.
