The biomass Virtual Research Environment (Biomass VRE) is a collaborative working environment supporting researchers to address basic and applied studies on aquatic and terrestrial biomass. It is a VRE that supports the management, analysis, and modeling of the rapidly growing volumes of biomass data generated by remote sensing, as well as their integration with laboratory and field-based data on the structural and functional characteristics of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Within an Open Science framework, the Biomass VRE promotes data accessibility, harmonisation, interoperability, and reuse, in line with the FAIR principles. This approach facilitates more efficient scientific progress and supports sustainable and reproducible research practices. The Biomass Virtual Research Environment was developed by CNR-IRET and was funded by EU - Next Generation EU Mission 4, Component 2 - CUP B53C22002150006 - Project IR0000032 – ITINERIS - Italian Integrated Environmental Research Infrastructures System.
