LifeWatch Italy is one of National Distributed Centres of LifeWatch ERIC, the European Research Infrastructure Consortium providing e-Science research facilities to scientists investigating biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services in order to support society in addressing key planetary challenges. LifeWatch Italy has been established as a Joint Research Unit (JRU) in 2010 and it is coordinated by the Italian National Research Council. The LifeWatch Italy JRU has now 36 members including research institutes, universities and associations seeking to reinforce integrated scientific research on biodiversity and ecosystems. LifeWatch Italy RI aspires to have a key role as national hub for biodiversity and ecosystem research in Italy, supporting the scientific community, and ensuring long-term usability of research outputs. For this reason, it provides services and platforms to support scientists throughout the entire research cycle, promoting best practices in data management and ensuring that research products are aligned with the principles of FAIR and Open Science.
