The Integrated European Long-Term Ecosystem, critical zone and socio-ecological Research Infrastructure (eLTER-RI) is a distributed RI that studies long-term (multi-decadal scale) ecological variations in structures, processes and functions in terrestrial, freshwater, coastal and transitional ecosystems through a holistic �whole system� approach.
