R code to fit a piecewise structural equation model
# Data structure:
# glacier: glacier foreland identity
# age: site age (within each foreland)
# site: site name
# point: measurement point (within each site)
# lon: coordinates (WGS84, degrees)
# lat
# elev: elevation (m a.s.l.)
# airT_er: air temperature (Celsius degree)
# sRad_nee: solar irradiance (W/m2)
# er: ecosystem respiration (umol/m2/s)
# gpp: gross primary productivity (umol/m2/s)
# imputed: imputed flux, based on the average value for the plot (in case of missing e.g., airT)
# gfc: green fractional cover (%)
# ndvi: normalized difference vegetation index (sentinel2, 10 m resolution)
# vheight: vegetation height (cm)
# pc1: axes 1 from the PCA on PFTs (42.8%) - positive = high prop of unvegetated vs negative = high prop of graminoids and Fabaceae
# pc2: axes 2 from the PCA on PFTs (25.9%) - positive = high prop of mosses and lichens vs negative = high prop of non-Fabaceae forbs
